Located about 12 miles east of Hurricane City and about 30 miles from St George, Apple Valley, Utah is a small town and home to about 700 residents.
Apple Valley is a newer city in the Washington County area with incorporation as recently as 2004. However several groups of townspeople have come together in attempts to disincorporate the town several times since its incorporation with claims that incorporating the town was premature. The attempts have failed each time.
Those who have frequently traveled through the area, know Apple Valley to be a quick and stop. A convenience store sits at the entrance of the town so travelers can get gasoline, snacks and maybe lunch or dinner along the road of State Route 59 between Kanab and St George. Those looking to visit the Coral Pink Sand Dunes might find themselves passing through Apple Valley. Access to Zion National Park can also be made after passing through Apple Valley along the state route.
The elevation of Apple Valley is at about 4,961 feet. This is more than double the elevation of St George. While the area experiences a similar climate, the elevation does increase the amount of snowfall Apple Valley experiences each year.
