Sky Mountain Golf Course Review

While looking for things to do in Southern Utah many people consider one or more of the amazing golf courses. Sky Mountain Golf Course is a public golf course owned and operated by the city of Hurricane. Keep reading for a full review of the Sky Mountain Golf Course.

As one of Southern Utah's treasures, the Sky Mountain golf course offers some of the most scenic fairways in the world. Located in Hurricane, Utah, just north of St. George, it is surrounded by the beauty of Zion National Park and the Pine Valley Mountain range. Sky mountain features 18-holes on a par 72 course, across 6,383 yards of rolling fairways and table top greens. The name of this course was inspired by the uniqueness of the twisted red rock landscape and lava filled desert-surrounds. However, in addition to being picturesque, Sky Mountain offers some exciting challenges for a course of its kind.

Sky Mountain is owned by the city, and operated by Vanguard Golf Management. Since it is a municipal course, the prices are more budget friendly than those of many comparable courses in the area, and the ambiance seems slightly more casual. The spectacular views from elevated tees, rolling hills that challenge skills, and beautiful well maintained fairways make Sky Mountain a popular attraction. You will need every club in your bag for this course and a camera for the panoramic scenery.

Sky Mountain employs 2 PGA golf professionals, Mark Whetzel, the course director, and Kent Abegglen, the course pro. Full service golf lessons are available, as well as a practice green, driving range, and practice bunker.

Golfers can choose to play either 9 or 18 holes at Sky Mountain. Green fees vary according to the season, day of the week, and tee time. Therefore, playing the entire course may cost anywhere between $29-$73 per person, with lower prices available for shorter rounds.

Additional services that are offered at the Sky Mountain golf course include a full service pro shop, rental clubs, and a snack bar. Also, the Sky Grill, a small, casual restaurant on the course, is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Although the menu is limited, the food and ambiance is outstanding.
